Andrew Shaw is a writer and editor. He trained as a magazine journalist before moving to the BBC, where he worked on the Ceefax newsdesk. He later returned to the BBC as a freelance for training and consultancy work. Andrew has a wide range of experience in both commercial writing and book editing. He is also in the process of establishing a career in screenwriting, with work commissioned by producers in both London and Los Angeles.
Michael Johnson is an international reporter and editor who has been training executives to meet the media for more than ten years. He served nine years as editor of International Management and five years as global head of media relations at ICO, a satellite communications company. He has written for the Economist Intelligence Unit and has contributed columns to the International Herald Tribune. In his career he has worked as a journalist in New York, San Francisco, Paris, Moscow and London. He now manages his own international consulting firm, Competitive Communications.
Allan Piper has had a 25-year career in journalism in Britain and the United States. He spent more than 10 years on Fleet Street, where he gained extensive experience of the City before editing Financial Mail on Sunday, having earlier worked on two other national newspapers. His City and industry contacts helped him, as a member of The Mail on Sunday team, to win the British Press Award for Specialist Writing and the Harold Wincott Award for Financial Journal of the Year. Individually, Allan won the prestigious Jesse H Neale Award for Business Journalism in the US.
Alan Dron joined Taylor-made's stable of writers after a 25-year career in journalism, split almost equally between daily newspapers and corporate publishing. He worked initially for newspapers in the UK and Middle East before joining The Scotsman, where he covered stories such as the First Gulf War and the Lockerbie disaster. He then moved to Trident Communications, which at the time was the UK's leading corporate publishing house specialising in staff magazines. He wrote, edited and managed publications for clients including Costain, Railtrack, Fairchild Dornier and the Bank of England, winning several industry awards along the way. His work for Taylor-made has included assignments for BSkyB, global insurance and risk specialists Marsh, and the East of England Development Agency.
Wendy Toole is an advanced member and registered proofreader of the Society for Editors and Proofreaders and has been a full-time freelance editor since 2002. She works on many types of corporate literature, from annual reports and staff manuals to promotional brochures, newsletters and public information material, for clients that include government departments, local authorities, design agencies, NGOs and businesses large and small. Wendy also works for many UK and international publishing companies on professional, educational and general interest books and has an MA with Distinction in English Language and Literature from the University of London.
Stephan Chase provides public-speaking and presentation courses. He is a coach, an actor and a director, who has worked with top executives from multinational corporations, including VW, the National Bank of Dubai, Fisher-Price, Virgin and Sony. He has also worked with MPs, media executives and well-known figures such as Michael Aspel, Rula Lenska, Michael York and Oscar Nominees Janet Suzman and Janet McTeer. He is also a coach for RADA in Business.
